lyrical triptych

For this assignment I was assigned to pick a song and create a collogue of images that represent  the lyrics. I first chose a song that I was comfortable with explaining. I began to choose certain quotes and parts of the lyrics that could create a picture that reflected on the certain song. I thought about what background images that can blend together and give the audience a understanding of what I was trying to portray. I also chose images that made the message clear.
I chose the song “Freedom” by Ashanti. This song was mainly about a young lady who has been through many struggles and yet maintains to strive for her goal and be free and not care for anyone’s opinions. My 3 panels consist of a nature background from cloudy skies to midnight oceans. For my project I mostly used the magnetic lasso, rotation, and scale. I rarely used filters I more adjusted my pictures and background by cutting my pictures with the tools and placing them on the right layers and rotating them to look cool.
I chose images that contained the meaning of a certain word, for example the word strength I showed a lady showing her muscles. I created moods by the coloring of the background and using nature in each of the panels. My 1st panel had a cloudy sky and my 2nd panel had a blue sky with the ocean where as my 3rd panel consist of a midnight sky and the ocean.
I personally like the adobe Photoshop because it gives me a chance to show my creative side and mess around with the tools and learn new things. I think I did fair in this project although I always criticize my work and this came out fair. I would spend more time on my project if I had more time.

magazine

This quarters culminating project was to create a magazine cover that reflects on what my career goals are. I was told to make the magazine cover look as real as possible and a variety of steps were tooken to complete this task. At first i decided what magazine title does my career relate to and i then chose a background that suits my headlines and title as well as my picture. In addition i then took a picture that had to do with my topic which was a writer. I processed the image and then cut it out using photoshop to paste on my cover. Finally i selected headlines that grabs the audience attention and described me as a person.
I chose a time magazine logo which is outlined in red. I used the blending options to create a unique style of font in the headlines. I chose the color blue for the font because it complemented my cardigan in my picture. My background contained a close up of a open book with a sepia color. I rotated my picture to give the cover a little edge to it and i added my barcode to complete the magazine.
In my magazine i tried to communicate various meanings such as my body language. My body language showed a side of me being that i want to be a writer i posed my way. I also show how the colors of the headline related to my picture i didn't want my magazine to be as plain and red like any ordinary time magazine. I used my touch of creativity and other options such as the blending itself to capture attention.
I feel satisfied with my artwork although i could have done way better. I managed to use what i have and work with it. I could have chosen props to make the cover a bit more interesting. Other then that i think i did fair on this magazine project.
